Southern Thrive Farm

We are the Raleigh Long Family of Lincolnton, GA - Second and Third generation beef cattle farmers. Our family has been raising beef cows for nearly 100 years. Grandpa Long and our Dad (Now Papa Raleigh) have always loved caring for their cows. They both just loved to ride over the farm each day to watch them graze and inspect whether any new calves were born overnight. Our cows have always been "pasture raised" even before that was in vogue.

Papa Raleigh served as an environmentalist in Lincolnton & Washington Wilkes for over 30 years, so the importance of having good quality meat in the hands of consumers has been important to him, not only on the farm but as a part of his work with the state as well. What he didn't have experience with was getting his own beef directly to the consumers. All he'd ever known was to take his calves to the sale barn when they reached the proper age.
His daughter, Rachel Barnett, came back home to the farm in 2021, after working in "Corporate, America" to raise her children closer to the farm. There she hopes her children will learn to appreciate the land, while also learning all about where their food comes from. In an effort to teach an old dog new tricks, Rachel has been paving the way to convert the farm to an online direct sales business, while promoting regenerative farming practices.
